May 17, 2012

KBR Building Group has been awarded a $23.6 million contract by CTL Packaging, USA, to construct a new manufacturing facility in Dallas, North Carolina. The facility is being constructed on a 60-acre site in the Gastonia Technology Park, located about 25 miles west of Charlotte along the I-85 corridor. KBR Building Group's Research Triangle Park (RTP) office is providing general contracting services for the project. Sitework is already underway. The architect of record is AEC Engineering.

CTL Packaging, part of a privately held Spanish company with manufacturing facilities in Spain and France, is a global manufacturer of plastic packaging products for the cosmetics, personal care, food and pharmaceutical industries. This represents the company’s first manufacturing facility in the United States.

The 160,000-square-foot precast industrial manufacturing facility in North Carolina will utilize an injection molding process to produce plastic tubes and caps for cosmetics and personal care products. The complex will house production, research and development, warehouse and distribution operations, plant utilities, raw material storage, maintenance operations, and corporate offices for the firm.

“CTL Packaging selected KBR Building Group to construct this important facility based on our long-time presence in the Carolinas and our solid experience in building industrial and manufacturing facilities — particularly our expertise in the pharmaceutical and food sectors,” said Frank Holley, Executive Vice President, KBR Building Group. “This project is the largest industrial investment in Gaston County in recent years. We are pleased to be a part of CTL Packaging’s entry into the U.S. market.”
