KBR Building Group Honored with N.C. Department of Labor's Gold Safety Achievement Award

KBR Building Group was presented with North Carolina’s Gold Safety Achievement Award by N.C. Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry at the state’s annual Safety Awards luncheon in Charlotte on Friday, May 4.  Gaylord Ballard, Senior HSE Manager, KBR Building Group, accepted the award on behalf of our company.

“Receiving the Gold Award acknowledges and recognizes the effort and dedication of our teams' leadership in building our safety culture,” said Ballard. “Now, more than ever, is a time to pause for reflection and focus, yet again discovering new ways to positively influence the safety behaviors of our industry, company and each of us personally. KBR Building Group's ultimate goal is for every person to enjoy working in a safe environment; where each teammate cares for one another and all can enjoy the benefit of an injury-free life.”

To qualify for a N.C. Safety Award, a company must not have had any fatalities and performed at better than 50% of the industry average for its industry type. To qualify for the highest achievement level, Gold, a company must also have performed better than the industry average in regards to their DART rate (Days Away from Work, Restricted Activity or Job Transfer).

About the N.C. Safety Awards Program — The N.C. Department of Labor’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that achieve and maintain excellent safety records. The program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace. In operation since 1946, the program now extends to more than 3,300 firms.
