KBR Building Group to Construct Major Renovation and Expansion at Providence Hospital Northeast in Columbia, South Carolina

Providence Hospitals' Board of Trustees has awarded KBR Building Group a contract to serve as construction manager for a major renovation and expansion project at Providence Hospital Northeast in Columbia, South Carolina. Providence Hospitals is the leading provider of cardiovascular and orthopaedic services in the Midlands area of the state.

KBR Building Group’s scope of work includes significant renovations and new construction to the main hospital building. New construction will include an added MRI service, a new main entrance and canopy, along with an expansion of the front lobby, post-anesthesia care unit and a central sterile processing area. Areas to be renovated include the energy plant, emergency, pre-op/recovery, surgery, central sterile and admissions departments, and patient care areas. Overall, the project will expand the facility by adding 38 new beds.  The architect of record is Earl Swensson Associates. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
