September 20, 2011

Two Building Group projects won “Best of 2011” awards in the regional project recognition program sponsored by ENR Southeast — part of the highly respected McGraw-Hill Construction publication family, publishers of Engineering-News Record.

After extensive review, ENR Southeast's "Best of 2011" judges chose 35 winners from a group of more than 100 entries from the states of Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. They picked a top winner in each category, along with "Award of Excellence" and "Award of Merit" winners in many of the categories.

Best Higher Education/Research Project — Georgia Health Sciences University, College of Dental Medicine, Augusta, Ga.

“Our project team overcame many challenges — including a very aggressive schedule due to delayed funding and a fixed opening date — to complete this incredibly technical and stunning project on time. I am very proud of their collaboration, ingenuity, perseverance and unwavering commitment to our client and their needs. " — Ed Smith, Executive Vice President, Building Group.

Award of Merit | Small Projects — Virginia Polytechnic State University, Visitors & Undergraduate Admissions Center, Blacksburg, Va.

”The Visitor and Undergraduate Admissions Center project with Virginia Tech was a great first success and demonstrates the value of teamwork. Virginia Tech is a key strategic client in our Education market.” — Mike Pierle, Executive Vice President, Building Group

Formal Recognition
These two Building Group projects will be featured in the November issue of ENR Southeast. Also, these projects and the teams that built and designed them will be honored at the magazine's annual Best Projects awards luncheon, to be held Nov. 10 in Orlando.
