Building Group holds September 11th Memorial Service at Medicago U.S.A. Jobsite
September 12, 2011

As the nation prepared to mark the 10th anniversary of β€œ9/11” this past weekend, the Building Group hosted a memorial service at the Medicago U.S.A. jobsite in Research Triangle Park (N.C.) on Friday, September 9, at 8:45 a.m. Area businesses, subcontractors, owners and Building Group staff were invited.

The brief service acknowledged loved ones lost and the many who have suffered as a result of the tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001. The Parkwood Fire Department (Durham, N.C.) Honor Guard entered the site as bagpipes played in the background. The National Anthem was sung and a speech was made by a member of the fire department. A prayer was said by the fire department clergy as doves were released.

After welcoming the guests, Joe Raimondi, Vice President, Life Sciences, Building Group, publicly shared these thoughts in his remarks, β€œFor all Americans, for all time, the phrase '9/11' will evoke a special meaning, a memory of a moment in our history when the world as we knew it changed forever. As we think back on the events of 9/11 ten years ago, our sorrow over the loss of so many good people should be tempered by the example shown by so many who died, and so many who lived. The only way we will triumph over terrorism and conquer the senseless tragedy of that horrible day, is by celebrating the kindness of the human spirit. Today, as we remember those lost, I ask you to join me and the Parkwood Fire Department in faith that the good will not only endure, they will prevail.”
