KBR Building Group's Latest Project for Triumph Aerostructures in Texas Wins Top Award in ENR's Best of 2014 Awards Competition

KBR Building Group has won Best Project in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) Best of 2014 Regional Awards Program for the construction of Triumph Aerostructures-Vought Aircraft Division’s newest manufacturing facility in Red Oak, Texas. Completed earlier this year, Triumph uses the assembly and composites fabrication facility (known as TARO 2) to manufacture integrated aerostructures for commercial, military and business jet aircraft.

ENR is hosting a series of special events across the country to celebrate and honor the building teams that created the best projects of 2014. KBR Building Group will receive its award at a luncheon in Houston on December 18.

"We are extremely proud of this award from ENR, especially considering that TARO 2 competed against other manufacturing projects of similar size in five states — Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas," said Bob Powell, project executive. “Even more commendable was our team’s commitment to building the project safely. This project had an outstanding safety record — over 470,000 man-hours without a lost-time incident.”

This is the second manufacturing facility KBR Building Group has constructed on Triumph’s recently developed Red Oak campus. The inaugural facility (known as TARO 1) was an ENR Best of 2013 award-winner, as well as recipient of an award for excellence in construction from ABC of Greater Houston.
