KBR Building Group to Construct Regional Distribution Center for Ferguson Enterprises in Coxsackie, New York
September 3, 2014

KBR Building Group has been awarded a contract by Ferguson Enterprises, the nation’s largest wholesale plumbing distributor, to construct a 460,000-square-foot distribution center in Coxsackie, New York. The project is sited on 84 acres in Coxsackie’s Fountain Flats Business Park. Located south of Albany on the Hudson River, Coxsackie is about 100 miles north of New York City.

The Coxsackie distribution center will specifically support Ferguson’s metro New York and Northeast branches, ensuring that customers receive product quickly. In addition, the Coxsackie facility will support Ferguson’s 11 other regional distribution centers across the United States.

“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Ferguson as it expands its geographic footprint in the Northeast to better serve its customers,” said Mac Carpenter, President, KBR Building Group. “We have completed similar regional distribution centers for Ferguson in Celina, Ohio, and Waterloo, Iowa, and look forward to delivering another successful project.”

The architect of record is Enverity Engineering. Bohler Engineering is providing civil engineering services.

Construction is underway with a proposed completion date of late summer 2015. Ferguson’s Coxsackie facility is expected to bring nearly 100 jobs to New York’s Greene County.

About the Facility
The exterior of the building features precast concrete wall panels with reveals. The distribution area — which comprises the majority of the facility — includes rack storage with 36’ clear height minimum and an ESFR sprinkler system. A ventilated battery charging area for forklifts supports 60 chargers and features epoxy floor coating. Shipping/receiving office areas include men’s/women’s restrooms along with separate trucker restrooms. The administrative office area is supported by a computer room, break room, and locker room. The facility includes 66 truck docks, with hydraulic levelers, vehicle restraints, dock bumpers and dock seals, and continuous pre-finished metal canopy. The site work scope called for 180 reserve truck parking spaces and 180 employee parking spaces.
