KBR Building Group Honored for Commitment to Supplier Diversity in Greater Houston
August 11, 2014

KBR Building Group was presented a 2014 Top 25 Prime Contractors, Architects and Engineers for Diversity Award during a ceremony and luncheon on July 30 sponsored by d-mars.com, a Houston-based business journal. The event celebrated Houston-area companies who work industriously to foster business growth in minority communities by supporting small business diversity initiatives. Each nominee is selected by peer organizations who feel they have gone the extra mile to be inclusive in the selection of minority and women-owned subcontractors and suppliers.

Accepting the award were Garland Burton, Director of Community Affairs and Diversity, KBR Building Group, and Kenneth Hall, Director, Sales & Strategy Administration, KBR, Infrastructure Americas. While these two KBR entities provide distinctively different services, they have a similar market focus and often work together in developing client relationships and pursuing specific projects.

Mr. Keith J. Davis, Sr., Founder, CEO and Publisher of d-mars.com and its minority business journal, served as master of ceremony and led the introduction of awards.

Burton noted, “Mr. Davis’ compassion and dedication to celebrating the work of community stewards is born from his own experience. He credits the mentorship long ago of a wealthy business executive as the key turning point in his life which eventually guided his own extraordinary success. That’s why this award is so meaningful.”

KBR’s Hall added, “Davis understands firsthand the positive impact that companies and their people can have on individuals in the community. This idea extends through our day-to-day work and to every project that we deliver. Ultimately, our projects are measured by their impact on people.”
