KBR Building Group Employees in Greenville Support Young Girl's Community Food Drive
June 1, 2014

KBR Building Group employees in Greenville (S.C.) collected canned and non-perishable food items this spring to support a community food drive championed by a three-year-old girl with a big heart. More than 75 food items — including a case of bottled water — were donated during the three-week collection period.

Ella Grace, who lives in nearby Belton, is the cousin of employee Mitzi Scarborough, senior marketing specialist. After being crowned Anderson County South Carolina's "Tiny Miss Heart of the U.S.A.," Ella initiated a food drive for needy families in neighboring Anderson and Greenville Counties. Ella set an ambitious goal to collect 10,000 items by August 2014 when she advances to the South Carolina state pageant.

KBR Building Group chose to support Ella's efforts since all donations are going directly to local food banks. The "Giving Back" committee especially liked the focus of the Miss Tiny Heart pageant — you are never too old or too young to give back and get involved with the community.

"Ella's giving spirit is contagious," said Scarborough. "I updated her each week on how full the box in the lobby was getting and she was so excited and grateful for our generosity. She truly has a giving heart for such a tiny person."
