KBR Building Group Honored with ABC's Eagle Award for University of Florida Academic and Research Center at ABC of Central Florida's Excellence in Construction Event
October 21, 2013

KBR Building Group's first LEED Platinum project was part of an exclusive group of projects showcased at ABC of Central Florida's Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards event held on Saturday evening, October 12.

Representatives from our Orlando office proudly accepted ABC's prestigious Eagle Award for the University of Florida's (UF) Research and Academic Center at Lake Nona. Not only did our project win in the top award in the Schools/Educational - $20 to $50 Million category, but it was also a Finalist for Project of the Year and a contender for the ABC chapter's Excellence in Marketing Award.

The University of Florida formally dedicated its new Research and Academic Center last November. This past summer KBR Building Group learned that our project team had exceeded original expectations and met the criteria for Platinum — the highest level of certification offered by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Sited within Florida’s 600-acre Lake Nona Science & Technology Park near Orlando, UF’s Research and Academic Center is one of the University’s first major research facilities to be constructed outside its Gainesville “home.” KBR Building Group’s Florida regional office in Orlando provided preconstruction and construction services for the four-story, 115,000-square-foot facility.
