ABC of the Carolinas Names the BE&K Building Group
July 23, 2010

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas has announced that the BE&K Building Group has been selected as that chapter's 2010 General Contractor of the Year. The Building Group will be formally presented with the award on Friday, August 6, during ABC’s Carolinas Construction Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Building Group’s Charlotte, Greenville and Raleigh offices contributed to this impressive industry recognition.

This award from ABC of the Carolinas has special significance for the Building Group, coming just a few months after winning that organization’s Project of the Year Award for our Cherokee Central Schools Building Program in Cherokee, NC. We subsequently won two National ABC awards for the Cherokee project, including an Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction and the first-ever Greener Tomorrow award.

“This award and other recent accomplishments should make Building Group employees proud and optimistic about the future,” said Luther Cochrane, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the BE&K Building Group.

The General Contractor of the Year Award from ABC of the Carolinas marks the third such award for the Building Group in 2010. In April, Southeast Construction announced that the Building Group had been selected as the (U.S.) Southeast’s Contractor of the Year; then in June, the BE&K/Turner Joint Venture constructing Boeing’s South Carolina 787 Expansion was named General Contractor of the Year by the Charleston (SC) chapter of the American Subcontractors Association of the Carolinas (ASAC).
