KBR Building Group’s Washington Employees Participate in Spring for Alexandria, Devote Entire Day to Community Service
May 13, 2013

KBR Building Group’s Washington office gave back its neighbors in Alexandria, Virginia, by participating in Spring for Alexandria, a city-wide community service day. A group of 12 employees spent the day providing hands-on service at non-profit organizations and City agencies throughout Alexandria, joining teams from businesses, organizations, and associations, as well as city employees and individual volunteers.

Our team also collected pledges to help support the year-round work of Volunteer Alexandria, a sponsor of Spring for Alexandria. KBR Building Group’s team raised funds by seeking donations from local subcontractors currently working on various projects. With their help, KBR Building Group raised more than 15 percent of the total donations.

The day’s events began with a morning business philanthropy summit followed by several hours of community service work at specific locations. KBR Building Group team was assigned to the Barrett Branch Library in Old Town Alexandria, where our crew was put to work weeding and mulching planters, picking up trash, planting flowers, and painting handrails and bike racks. The service day concluded with a celebration in Alexandria’s Market Square.
