April 29, 2013

KBR Building Group was presented North Carolina’s Gold Safety Achievement Award at the state’s annual Safety Awards luncheon on Friday, April 26. This is the second year in a row that KBR Building Group has earned the highest-level safety achievement award from the N.C. Department of Labor (NCDOL).

“The North Carolina Gold Safety Award recognizes all KBR Building Group employees working in North Carolina for their collective efforts in maintaining a safe workplace throughout 2012 not only on our many jobsites but also in our office environments.  Even though this award is state-specific, meeting the standards for Gold comes from having a company-wide culture that keeps safety front and center in everything we do," said Gaylord Ballard, Senior HSE Manager, KBR Building Group, who accepted the award on behalf of our company. “As stated repeatedly, KBR Building Group's ultimate goal is for every person to enjoy working in a safe environment; where each teammate cares for one another and all can enjoy the benefit of an injury-free workplace.”

To qualify for the N.C. Safety Award, a company must not have had any fatalities and performed at better than 50% of the industry average for its industry type throughout the year. To qualify for the Gold award, a company must also have performed better than the industry average in regards to their DART rate (Days Away from Work, Restricted Activity or Job Transfer).
