KBR Building Group Awarded Design-Build Contract for New Aircraft Manufacturing Facility in Red Oak, Texas
April 29, 2013

KBR Building Group has been awarded a contract by Triumph Aerostructures — Vought Aircraft Division, a subsidiary of Triumph Group, Inc., to design and construct a new manufacturing facility in Red Oak, Texas.

The 730,000-square-foot assembly and composites fabrication facility will manufacture integrated aerostructures for commercial, military and business jet aircraft. Site work has begun with occupancy slated for the second half of 2013.

“We are proud to partner with Triumph Aerostructures – Vought Aircraft Division as they continue to build out the Red Oak campus,” said Philip Southerland, President, KBR Building Group. “We constructed Triumph Aerostructures – Vought Aircraft Division’s first production facility at this site last year. Based on our team’s solid performance we were invited back to design and build the second project, which is an even larger facility.”

The building will house an assembly and fabrication operation for the production of a variety of integrated aerostructure.  At the heart of the facility is a sizable composites fabrication area, assembly hall and paint facility, supported by restrooms, break areas, parking and exterior infrastructure.  As part of the site development effort, a tool cleaning, preparation and in-process storage annex will be appended to the eastern end of the main building.

KBR Building Group selected BRPH as its design partner for this project. The KBR-BRPH team has worked together on a number of advanced manufacturing projects for the aviation/aerospace sector, including other projects for Triumph Aerostructures — Vought Aircraft Division.
