KBR Building Group's Team for BASF's R&D Facility Expansion and Greenhouse Project — a N.C. Building Star Site — Celebrates 100,000 Safe Man-Hours Milestone
April 23, 2013

Just a few months after receiving the prestigious Building Star designation by the N.C. Department of Labor for the rigorous safety program implemented on site, KBR Building Group's project team for the BASF Corporation | Research & Development Facility Expansion and Greenhouse project in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, proudly celebrated a safety milestone — over 100,000 man-hours completed without a lost-time accident.

KBR Building Group's safety achievement was applauded by our client, BASF, with a celebratory safety luncheon attended by more than 150 people. Further recognizing this significant safety milestone, BASF awarded a $25 gift card and a commemorative t-shirt to every construction worker on site.

BASF’s management expressed their deep appreciation to KBR Building Group and our subcontracting team for our collective attention to safety and performance excellence on this important project. Likewise, KBR Building Group’s project management team thanked our subcontractor workforce for a job well done. Construction tools such as impact wrenches and saws, as well as gift cards, were given away through a random drawing. On average, 125 or more construction workers are on the jobsite on any given work day.

KBR Building Group has completed multiple projects for BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies, at their Research Triangle Park campus where BASF conducts agricultural research and development. Our firm was responsible for the construction of BASF’s original 182,000 sf facility on this campus in 1986. In total, KBR Building Group has constructed more than 300,000 sf of building space at this site.
