KBR Building Group’s Orlando Employees Help Homeless Children through Back-to-School Backpack Drive
August 13, 2012

KBR Building Group employees in Orlando held a backpack drive in late July and early August as a way to help homeless children prepare for the new school year. Participation was high and the group was pleased with the outcome.

“We were able to collect over 30 new backpacks in various sizes,” said Shannon Mungovan, office manager. “Also, we asked our building manager to set up a drop-off location for all tenants and they helped out as well.”

Nancy Dvorak, receptionist, together with Stan Dvorak, HSE manager, delivered the colorful collection of backpacks to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida which will distribute them to local children in need.

About Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida — For 25 years, the Coalition for the Homeless has been addressing the needs of Central Florida’s homeless. What began as an initiative to provide food and shelter to homeless men has now grown into the largest provider of homeless services in Central Florida and the largest residential facility for children.  Each night, the Coalition serves over 750 men, women, and children. As the school year approaches, the organization depends exclusively on the community to provide supplies for the hundreds of children who call their emergency shelter.
